Koper Hosts Slovenia’s 2025 National Finals: Unity Through Competition

Koper hosted the spectacular National Finals of the Plazma Youth Sports Games in Slovenia – a day filled with sports, cheering, and friendship!

More than 1,300 young athletes gathered at Bonifika Sports Park to compete in the Coca-Cola Cup, athletics and dodgeball – as part of Telemach Sport Day, the Triglav Cup, beach volleyball, tennis, and a FIDE chess tournament.
These finalists earned their place through regional and municipal qualifiers across the country. The best among them will represent Slovenia at the international finals this August, joining peers from Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year, the Games involved 58,000 children from 65 municipalities and 160 schools across Slovenia. By season’s end, 206 tournaments will have taken place, including 30 Zero Waste events, promoting both sports and sustainability.

The National Finals opened with the symbolic lighting of the Games flame by Koper’s Mayor Aleš Bržan, athlete Snežana Vukmirović, and sailor Toni Vodišek – showing strong support for young athletes and the core values of the Games.

We’re especially proud that – for the second year in Slovenia – participation in all competitions and events was completely free of charge, made possible by our partners: Plazma, Coca-Cola, Telemach, Petrol, Arena Sport, Triglav, and Slovenske železnice.

👏 Thank you to everyone who helped us create another unforgettable season, celebrating friendship, fair play, and healthy living!
